With thousands of images of “perfection” shot at us every day, it can be easy to compare ourselves with others and internalize the constant judgment and scrutiny of our bodies. Not to mention all the “new year, new you” rhetoric that’s soaked in shame and self-blame.
Let’s do it differently this January: Rather than resolving yourself to conform to the standards set by systems of oppression, why not revolt against them and do something revolutionary: make peace with your body. This weekend intensive explores body acceptance through the lens of the yoga teachings. You will discover how the 8 limbs of yoga, the practice of non-attachment, a feminist lens, and techniques from cognitive psychology can help you get from self-loathing to radical self-acceptance.
Friday night begins with a short talk and Q&A from Amber, followed by a Body Positive Yoga class. Saturday and Sunday’s workshop intensive will combine yoga asana, breathing and meditation, and self-study for an interactive time of discovery and transformation.
