How did you learn about the Body Positive Fitness Finder? What made you contact Wendy?

It was a long process, but I realized I was sick and tired of hating myself and doing terrible things to myself to fit into a smaller body. One of the healthy steps I started taking was following various body positive hashtags on IG to inundate myself with body positive images and I learned a lot about the body positive movement. I realized that I missed working out, so I literally just started googling “body positive” and “trainer” and found my way to the Superfit Hero Body Positive Fitness Finder and found Wendy. I met with her and within 30 seconds of talking to her, I knew I wanted to work with her.

 

What kind of movement brings you joy? Has finding joyful movement changed your life in any way?

I love yoga, lifting heavy weights, and bashing things at the gym. Finding joyful movement has changed my life, and by “joyful movement” I mean, working out to feel better and stronger – not with the sole purpose to lose weight. Now I’m just focused on the workout and I’m learning about what I actually enjoy doing vs. what I think will burn the most calories. I still enjoy a good walk/run interval, and I love going to the gym, but I’m more open to new things. I feel stronger and healthier and more optimistic about my life and my future. I think about what I could do 6 months ago vs. what I can do now, and I’m excited to think about what I might be able to do 6 months from now. I’m just so much more hopeful about the years to come than I used to be.

 

What does body positivity mean to you?

It means appreciating what my body can do, and focusing on that rather than obsessing over what my body looks like. I’m working on that, and I struggle a lot with it, but hey, it’s a process, right? I think Body Neutrality is pretty wonderful too. It’s like, hey… I have legs, I have arms, I have feet, I have hands, I have a body…and that’s a good start.

 

What's your superpower?

I really wanted to say “Quick-witted and big-titted” or “smartassery” here but I’ll say my sharp humor and ability to snuggle multiple pups in a single bound!

Bottoms: It's all about the hips! Measure your hips at their widest point using a soft measuring tape. Between sizes? If your body is hourglass shaped, size down. If you are more apple or box-shaped, choose the larger size. 

Bras: Measure your bust at the widest point. If you are between sizes and have cup size A-D, size up. For cup size DD and above, size down.
